Folkholder, Kindred Deacon and Gothi-Prestr

The Odinsberg Tribal Council serves as our ancestral Thing—honoring the ancient tradition of shared governance. It embodies the dual pillars of Apostolic Succession and Ancestral Authority, ensuring the legacy of Forn Sidr (Old Ways) and Nyr Sidr (New Path). This article explores the paths of becoming a Folkholder, Kindred Deacon, and Gothi-Prestr—each offering a unique connection to our faith and its sacred mission.

Becoming a Folkholder

A Folkholder is more than a community member; they are part of a living tradition. By becoming a Folkholder, you are united with the Odinsberg Tribe in the following ways:

  • Honoring the Legacy of our Shield-Maiden ancestor of Birka, Sweden and the Northern tribes.

  • Embracing the Spiritual Synthesis of the Aesir-Vanir and the harmonious integration of Forn Sidr and Nyr Sidr.

  • Upholding the Values of Respect, Balance, and Unity as we navigate modern life while keeping our ancestral faith alive.

Why Become a Folkholder?

  • Celebrate the spiritual connection between the Old Ways and the New Path.

  • Join a supportive, diverse community grounded in shared heritage.

  • Foster personal growth, spiritual exploration, and a sense of belonging.

What to Expect as a Folkholder

  • Participate in seasonal gatherings blending Norse and Christian customs.

  • Engage in cultural events that celebrate our ancestral history.

  • Take part in discussions on faith and balance, focused on restoring our tribal identity.

Ordination to the Syncretic Priesthood

The Odinsberg Tribal Council offers two paths of ordination: Kindred Deacon and Gothi-Prestr, rooted in Ancestral authority and Apostolic succession.

Key Aspects of Ordination

  • Cultural and Spiritual Leardership: Deacons and Gothi-Prestr guide their communities in Norse Dual-Faith practices, blending ancient wisdom and modern faith.

  • Sacred Rituals: Both lead sacred rites, including blót and sumbel, with Anglican chant for the Hávamál and readings from Norse and Christian scripture. Only the Gothi-Prestr may administer Holy Communion.

  • Guardians of Ancestral Traditions: The ordained are stewards of our dual-faith heritage, preserving balance and unity within this syncretic tradition.

The Sacred Rite of Ordination

Kindred Deacons ordained by sumbel (oath of affirmation).

Gothi-Prestr are ordained through laying on of hands.

By becoming a Folkholder or pursuing ordination, you join the Odinsberg Tribe in honoring the past and forging a future rooted in balance and spiritual harmony.
